Haiti Pax Christi Lenten Collection for 2017

Your generous Lenten giving for the past two years has resulted in the completion of two major projects in Haiti: the Chapel of Joly in 2015 and a new roof for Fr. David Fontaine’s church in L’Aisle in 2016. Both of these projects were representative of God’s miraculous ways when we stay on mission with Him.

Please prayerfully contribute again this year and pick up a “Haiti Pax Christi” Lenten Cup following all masses beginning with Ash Wednesday Masses and continuing throughout Lent.

Garden Notes…

Spirit Gardens at Pax Christi - The new gardening season is almost here! It’s time to remind all gardeners who want to get a plot ready for the new season that plots are available. Each plot rents for $40.00 per season to cover the cost of water. Most plots measure 12’ x 12’ and that is plenty of room to grow some great vegetables or flowers!

We will plan on having a “kick off the season” meeting the latter part of April to answer questions and to help folks prepare their plots. Remember, please, that everyone’s help is needed to keep the weeds in check. The weeds are the responsibility of the gardeners. If you are interested in a plot, contact Joanne at supportstaff@paxchristi.org or Bayard Breeding at bayardbreeding@gmail.com. Hope to see many of you soon!

40 Days for Life

“For it was You who created my being, knit me together in my mother’s womb. I thank you for the wonder of my being, for the wonders of all your creation.” Psalm 139:13-14

Planned Parenthood kills nearly 324,000 babies per year through abortions. On March 1st, 40 Days for Life will begin its spring campaign to convince mothers and fathers who are faced with difficult circumstances to choose life for their unborn babies. The approach is to offer help and hope through prayer, fasting and peaceful prayer demonstration in front of Planned Parenthood facilities. We are asking our parishioners to help with this mission in three ways.

  • 1. Please check the following website (https://40daysforlife.com/devotionals/) each day for the 40 Days for Life devotional and take a few minutes to pray for the intention of that day.
  • 2. Please consider fasting from something (food, tv, coffee, etc.) one day a week during Lent for the unborn and their parents.
  • 3. Set aside one day during Lent in which you can join others in prayer outside Planned Parenthood. Seeing that people are there praying for them is one of the most effective ways to convince mothers of the value and preciousness of God’s little life growing in their wombs.

Our parish will have a date, to be announced later in the campaign, where we as a parish will pray together at Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs. We will try to meet here at Pax Christi and carpool down together. Although work schedules and other obligations make this difficult or impossible for some, we do have many retirees and those with flexible schedules who could set aside this day to spend a couple of hours in prayer at the center and possibly save a baby’s life.

Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide you to consider participating in this important mission.
