Pastor
The Most Reverend Richard C. Hanifen, Bishop of the Diocese of Colorado Springs,  appointed Father Ken Przybyla (pronounced Priz-bil-a) as the first Pastor of Pax Christi Catholic Church on July 27, 2000. Fr. Ken came to us from St. Joseph's Parish in Salida where he had been working since 1995 and had served as Pastor since 1998. The church is located at 5761 McArthur Ranch Road and serves households in east Highlands Ranch, Wildcat Ridge, Lone Tree, Acres Green, and Castle Pines North areas.
Fr. Ken was born in a small town in Peru, Illinois on August 6, 1951. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa and received a Masters in Theological Studies from Notre Dame University in Indiana. On May 21, 1977 he was ordained to the priesthood in Peoria, Illinois.
Fr. Ken's first assignment was the Associate Pastor of a Visitation Parishin Kewnaee, Illinois from 1977-1980. For the next seven years, Fr. Kenserved as the Campus Minister at the University of Illinois, at the Champaign-Urbana Campus. From there, Fr. Ken, became the Pastor of a HomeMission that involved three parishes and two missions in Mercer County, Illinois. He served there from 1987-1995. In 1995 Fr. Ken asked to come to Colorado where he initially was appointed as Administrator of St. Joseph's Parish inSalida. In 1998 he became the Pastor.
In his spare time, Fr. Ken enjoys mountain hiking (he has climbed 23 of Colorado's 14,000ft. peaks), tennis, racquetball, bike riding and cross-country skiing.
The Pax Christi community is happy and blessed to have Fr. Ken as our first pastor! Fr. Ken celebrated his 30th year as a priest on May 21, 2007.
