There is another matter to bring to your attention. As a matter of policy, Bishop Sheridan is directing all parishes to build a rectory with accommodation for two priests as well as a guest room for visiting clergy.

Pax Christi is among those parishes of our Diocese that has not constructed a rectory on its property.

The Bishop will not approve any other building projects unless a rectory is included. 

Most of us grew up in a parish where the pastor lived in a rectory next to the church; so this is really not a new idea. This project is looking to the future so that other priests will not face the lack of housing Fr. Ken did when he was assigned to Pax Christi. There will come a time when your next pastor will need a place to live. Fr. Ken continues to maintain ownership of his house since it does not belong to our parish. He hopes someday in the distant future to use it as a retirement home.   

In summary, Phase One will consist of plans to build a rectory and enhance the front of our church while Phase Two will be to construct a new building between our church and the Christi Center. 

 Phase One:

• A Tower will be constructed in front of the doors to our Link. The tower will draw attention to the main entrance to our worship space. It will become the focal point of our parish campus. 
• A Canopy will extend along side of the church covering the doors to our Link and as well as the stained glass windows. It will keep our Link cooler and offer protection to the windows. 
• Expanded parking on what is now the small hillside to the south of our church will help those who need closer access to our church. The area leveled for parking will be landscaped to provide more space for our outdoor parish activities. 
• A Rectory that can provide a current meeting space for small groups and a future home for a pastor.

Before we can consider the opportunities of tomorrow, we must first address our present situation. Please review the pictures and sketches in the pamphlet. You may also examine the drawings for Phase Two in our Christi Center.
