   BLOOD DRIVE

Mission of Ministry: To provide blood to the Bonfils Blood Center.

Description: Quarterly drives are held at our parish to encourage parishioners to contribute blood on a regular basis.

Time Commitment: 1 to 2 hours twice yearly.

 

   BAGEL MINISTRY

Mission of Ministry: To provide bagels for the Franciscan Brothers of the Poor in Denver.

Description: To pick up bagels at Einstein’s on Saturdays and Sundays and bring them to church. Volunteers take the bread from Masses and bagels to the Franciscan Brothers of the Poor.

Time Commitment: 1 to 2 hours to pickup Bagels, bring them to Parish and place them in Father Woody's bin.  If volunteering to deliver to Franciscan brothers of the Poor, 2 hours on Monday morning once every 2 months.

 

   BREAD MINISTRY

Mission of Ministry: To provide bread for the homeless.

Description: To purchase or make bread to be brought up as part of our community’s offering at each weekend Mass, and then taken to a homeless shelter each week.

Time Commitment: Monthly or as desired. Although it helps to officially join this ministry, please feel welcome to bring bread when you attend Mass. There is never too much bread.

 

   CHRISTMAS PROJECT

Mission of Ministry: To provide Christmas gifts for the poor, sick and needy of our community.

Description: Parishioners help with organizing, sorting, delivering and handing out the gifts.

Time Commitment: 1-10 hours/year depending on involvement.

 

   COMPA

Mission of Ministry: To glean farmer’s fields of crops remaining after harvest, to feed the hungry.

Description: Each Fall, a group from Pax Christi volunteers to assist in gleaning the fields. Throughout the year, there is a need to help with canning. This is a great family ministry.

Time Commitment: 1 day once/year (typically a Saturday in the Fall).

 

 

   FAIR TRADE COFFEE SALES

Mission of Ministry:  To raise awareness of the Fair Trade movement, ensure that small farmers earn a fair price and live with dignity, and provide delicious coffee for our parishioners.

Description:  Regular and decaffeinated, whole bean and ground coffee is sold (at cost) after the Weekend  Masses in our Great Hall.

Time Commitment:  1/5 hour before and 1/5after the Mass you attend once or twice a month.

   Kairos Prison Ministry  www.kairosprisonministry.org

Mission of Ministry: To reach out to male and female  inmates and their families offering them hope, encouragement and support while in and during their transition back into the community.

Description: This ministry is new and under development.  Please see the website above for general informationa and contact Noreen at the aboe email.  Local chapter representatives are currently working on scheduling presentations for this community to learn more and see if you are interested in joining this important ministry.

Time Commitment: Under development.

 

   JUSTICE & PEACE/JUSTFAITH

Mission of Ministry: To be a resource to our parish in the area of social justice.

Description: The group educates themselves, and in conjunction with our Pastor, staff, diocesan and national Bishops’ direction, makes information sessions about social justice issues available to our parish.   This program is currently being reviewed, more information to follow as new offerings are planned.

             Time Commitment: 2 hours a week for 30 weeks and home study time.

 

   LUNCH BUNCH

Mission of Ministry: To provide sack lunches for the Samaritan House Shelter in Denver.

Description: On the fourth Sunday of each month, people are invited to bring one or more lunches, including two sandwiches, chips, fruit and something sweet, tucked into a paper sack. Lunches are collected and then delivered to Samaritan House.  This is an excellent family ministry and families are encouraged to signup for delivery duties.

Time Commitment: Monthly – time needed to make lunches and deliver them to the Parish kitchen – Drivers are also needed to deliver the lunches and this is typically a 3 hour commitment as scheduled (no more than once a month).

 

   MONTHLY COLLECTIONS (Big Blue Bin)

Mission of Ministry: To provide parishioners the opportunity to support worthy agencies in our local area.

Description: Each month donations are requested for various non-profit agencies. Parishioners bring requested items and place them in the Big Blue Bin or the baskets by the altar. Items are then delivered to the agency.

Time Commitment: Monthly.

 

   PROJECT LINUS

Mission of Ministry: To make quilts and blankets for children in need.

Description: Our group meets in our Great Hall one Saturday morning a month for sewing, making quilts, hearing speakers, and sharing a meal in a social environment. A wonderful way to meet other women and provide to a wonderful cause!

Time Commitment: Monthly.

 

   SOUTHERN EXPOSURE

Mission of Ministry: To build homes for needy families in Juarez, Mexico.

Description: Youth and adults of our parish travel to Juarez once or twice per year. Paying their own expenses, they spend a week living and working in Juarez, and complete a house by the time they leave.

Time Commitment: 1 week once or twice/year.

 

   WHOLE WORLD MARKET

            Mission of Ministry: To provide a source of income for the less fortunate in developing countries around the 
            world.
Description: Once a year Pax Christi has a sale of items from other countries, from local social service agencies, and fair trade products. Volunteers are always needed to plan, to greet, collect monies and serve food. The Third World Sale directly benefits peoples in remote areas of the world, and people in our county who are “on the fringe” of society.
Time Commitment: 1-2 days/year typically in the Fall.  Planning and training meetings as scheduled just before event, typically 2 hours.  Set up and clean up help are also always needed!
 

  THEODORA HOUSE (Soup Kitchen)

Mission: To involve families and individuals in helping less fortunate women by cooking ,serving and eating meal on the 2nd Friday of each month.
Description:   Preparing meals, delivering, serving and eating meals once a month for Theodora House  (an overnight shelter for homeless women with no children (run by Volunteers of America)
Time Commitment: The time needed to prepare meals (using delicious, easy and nutritrious recipies provided by Theodora Hours), delivering food to site, setting up meal and eatting with residents - 2 to 3 hours, 3times a year.

 
  HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Mission:  To work in partnership with God and people from all walks of life to build decent, affordable homes in

which people can live and grow into all that God intends.
Description: Volunteers are an integral part of the Habitat for Humanity program with both skilled and unskilled   individuals assisting to build homes alongside our partner families. Homes are built every Wednesday through Saturday.  On the contstruction site it takes 480 volunteers over 4, 320 work hours to build one Habitat for humanity Home.  We work in conjunction with other churches to build one home each year. 
Time Commitment: 8 Attendance at planning/training meetings as requried (typcially not more than 3 or 4 hours total) and 8 hours a year at a build site.  You are also asked to please help by supporting developing of financial sources for the Parish's allotment of funding donation to the home we help build.  This is a great parent with teens and adults of all ages ministry.
