We’ve been hearing about this at Mass on the weekends. The Faith Formation Staff has been attending conferences and reading materials on this shift in catechesis that has been percolating in the United States and Canada for the past ten years. The Faith Formation Committee of the parish has been studying materials for the past year.Since this new approach is parish-wide, the Parish Staff attended a two-day workshop (Friday – Saturday) to learn about Generations of Faith. The whole staff is strongly in support of this much-needed change.
Many parents and several other adults have participated in sessions providing an overview of why Pax Christi is making a change in religious education to lifelong faith formation, what the vision and goals are for this new approach and, specifically, what this approach will look like at Pax Christi and when we will begin.Catechists were introduced to Generations of Faith at their meeting in April. The leadership of the parish also have been introduced to this new approach at their meetings: Pastoral Council, Liturgy Committee and the Leadership Forum.
The great majority of those who have taken time to learn about Generations of Faith are excited about the potential of this new approach for themselves, their families and the parish as a whole!
